August, 1989 NALI Journal, "Nobody Read the File." Co-authored with Dr. J. Michael Kerrigan. A case study involving a paranoid schizophrenic whose condition had steadily deteriorated. He stabbed and killed another inmate in a minimum care facility. This article details the problems cited by the psychiatric orderlies, nurses, and other state hospital personnel and emphasizes the fact that none of the doctors, or supervisory personnel read comments by their co-workers when considering this patient for re-evaluation, status change and transfer to a minimum care facility. This analysis also deals with the storage and supervision of "Sharps" in a psychiatric facility.
